Sometimes a ceiling fan or two is all you need to keep a room cool. They won’t be a permanent replacement for your AC system, but just using them a few days a week will save you a lot of money. For example, you can use them only on cooler days or in the morning and evening when the temperature outside is cooler.

They also allow you to better control which rooms in your home are cool. If you don't use certain rooms of your home, there is no reason to keep them cool by running the AC through your entire house.
