How to Prevent Mold Growth in Your Air Conditioning System

Mold is an all-pervasive organism. Its spores are everywhere and when the conditions are right, they grow into mold. The three conditions for mold growth are plenty of moisture, food, and the right temperature. Your air conditioning system already satisfies one of these conditions, which is the temperature. Mold thrives in the same temperature range that humans find comfortable.

There is also a good chance that pockets of dust, dirt, and debris, all of which can serve as mold food, are in various parts of your AC system, particularly in the ducting. It is always a good idea to get your duct system cleaned, but it is a difficult job and is therefore not something you will do on a weekly basis. Of the three conditions for spores to start growing, moisture control is the easiest way to prevent this from happening.
